The What is a community of smart and curious women sharing their secrets on how to do life better.
Each week we publish a list of five things you should know about every week, based on our personal research and discovery. Whatever makes your life easier – life hacks, must-read books, travel essentials, beauty & style intel, wellness tips and recipes – The What List is your trusted source for living a better life.
WHY THE WHAT LIST
We’ve been in the recommendations business since 1999. We were the go-to girls in our friend groups and we started one of the very first websites dedicated to road testing products, places and experiences for women and sharing our best discoveries. The What List is our third company together and we remain dedicated to creating a place for women to connect, engage, feel empowered and feel good.
THE DOCTOR OZ SHOW
Dr. Oz asked us to share some of our favorite health and wellness picks around cellulite reduction and back pain relief (clips 6 & 7). A few of these products have been featured in our Lab Report, where we test everything, and share only the best.
We invite you to check out our picks and give them a try for yourself. And if you have personal favorites or discoveries you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you. We can always be reached over email or in our private women’s group.

We initially discovered the FasciaBlaster through one of our readers, who swore by this weird looking stick that promises to smooth and reshape your body. After months of using it, we agree that it does work, but it is not for the faint of heart. The FasciaBlaster can make you tender and cause some bruising, but then so does a great massage. Just give it time. It’s best used when your body is warm, so grab a little oil and start experimenting during your shower or right after, when you’ll get better slip. Go at your own pace and pay attention to how your body feels. The process can take months so patience is required.
We’ve spoken with doctors, physical therapists and body workers – they all either use the FasciaBlaster or quickly see how the tool is useful in loosening muscles, releasing lactic acid and smoothing cellulite much in the same way a foam roller work but with even better results.

BACK PAIN RELIEF
Two years ago we discovered the Theracane and have been waxing poetic about it ever since. This at-home trigger point therapy tool was prescribed to us by a renowned PT for ongoing neck and back pain, due to sitting at our desks all day, too much travel and lack of stretching after our workouts. In fact, we even shot a quick how-to video in our office to share how it’s changed our lives and provided immense relief to our tight muscles. And then someone introduced us to the BackBuddy.
The BackBuddy is similar to the Theracane in promise and price, however, it has 11 knobs of various shapes and sizes and an S-shape, which provide greater leverage and reach with minimum effort. We also like that the BackBuddy is sturdier and offers deeper muscle penetration. We travel with our BackBuddy everywhere.
It comes down to personal preference. Both of these tools receive thousands of four-star reviews on Amazon and can provide relief if you put in the time to use them correctly. They both look like infomercial gimmicks but they feel utterly amazing.
