1. Nickname: Bubbie, Mrs. B2. What’s your short story? Raised in Santa Barbara, CA with bohemian artist parents. Focused my early years on children; babysitter, live in au pair, Head Start teacher, mother, obstetric RN, delivering babies in an alternative birth center, Sex Ed teacher at Convent of the Sacred Heart, patient coordinator for surgeon, photographer specializing in artful portraiture of children which has since morphed into family photography and producing books for Capra Press.3. What’s your jam? My music tastes are eclectic and include everything from Billie Holliday to Bob Dylan to Ben Webster to the Traveling Wilburys, Leonard Cohen, Adele, country, classical, R&B. Just depends on my mood at the time.4. What motivates you? )? Even though deceased, my parents inspired a great love of nature, art, creative thought and joie de vivre.5. Who do you think you’d have great friend chemistry with? Maybe the imaginative Gertrude Stein. Would have been a treat to hang with her in her literary and artistic salon in Paris in the ‘20’s.6. What qualities do your favorite friends have in common? Humor, sensitivity, creative spirits, positive energy, fun loving and intelligent.7. What’s the smartest, most inspiring, awesome thing you’ve read, watched, or listened to? Right now I am reading a very interesting book, Life Reinvented: The Science, Art and Opportunity of Midlife written by Barbara Bradley Hagerty. It is powerful and inspirational for all us boomers at midlife and beyond. I find it fascinating and hopeful!8. What whets your appetite? First I love concocting a crazy DIY project like gluing shells, feathers, baubles, stones, etc. on my last years’ sandals, or creating some fun photographic cards or making some edgy jewelry or knitting, etc. Then, give me a hand crafted cocktail, an inspired and beautifully presented meal and something frothy for dessert. A long walk on a warm beach to ground me.9. What’s next on your To Do List? I love learning new ways to play with photos and will always want to pursue my photography.10. How are you friends with Gina + Amy? We met at Ram’s Gate. We are members and stop there every Thursday en route from SF to Napa as it is exactly half way between our two homes. We were enchanted with their enthusiastic new blog.11. Who would you nominate for our next Friend of the Week? Maren Caruso! Yes, she is our daughter, but her photography is unbelievable and she is simply an amazing person!
