Growing up my uncles nicknamed me “Chiva” Spanish for “baby lamb”.2. What’s your short story? Mexican born. Florida raised. I’ve been working in fashion design and development to supplement my creative endeavors.3. What’s your jam (fight song, personal soundtrack)? Anything from Selena, Nathalie Merchant, Kate Bush, to all the 90’s music bands. But sometimes silence is the solution.4. What motivates you (any mentors or personal philosophy)? 97% doesn’t believe in reincarnation. The 3% is what keeps me curious. A riff off David Bowie’s quote.5. Who do you think you’d have great friend chemistry with (notable people past or present)? Nan Goldin.6. What qualities do your favorite friends have in common? I would say “outgoing” and they like to eat. Scarlet Mann encompasses everything.7. What’s the smartest, most inspiring, awesome thing you’ve read, watched, or listened to? Joan Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking. It's a lesson in humility and our mortal humanity. Here is this seemingly privileged princess that within one year loses her most precious processions and there's nothing she can do. Some of us that may need to learn a few lessons in life, never get a chance to, but when you do get that chance it changes you forever. I think grieving and sadness in life are as just as important as happiness.8. What whets your appetite (food, drink, any and all pleasures)? Traveling. Anywhere is good, even if just for the day or an overnight stay. So much ground to explore, so little time.9. What’s next on your To Do List? I’m volunteering every Saturday at a No Kill Shelter, with my sisters. That inspires my thought process.10. How are you friends with Gina + Amy? I had the great fortune of being introduced to Gina at the first Near Future Summit 2016. Looking forward to getting to know Gina more.11.
